Lillstreet Ignite, a program of Lillstreet Art Center, provides local and national businesses and professionals an opportunity to use art as a tool for inquiry. We believe bringing art and business together fosters collaboration, increases understanding among people, and creates a culture of creativity. Each arts-based team building activity is designed for first-time artists and lead by a professional teaching artist who expertly guides participants through the creative process. www.Lillstreet.com/ignite On a Monday afternoon in March, 20 members of Team Ignition, a marketing agency based in four different cities, united at the Lillstreet Loft to embark on a creative retreat. Because the agency is based in four cities not everyone knows each other well, so it was important for the group to have time to work and bond as a team. They chose a ceramic tile retreat, and customized the end by bringing in a mixologist. Each person created two ceramic tiles – one on their own and one as a collaborative effort. Although no one claimed to have experience in art or clay, the group picked up quickly on construction techniques and everyone was able to create successful and meaningful tiles. They will make beautiful displays back in their individual offices! The group then explored another aspect of their creative side with the mixologist. After an overview of flavors and cocktail craft, everyone teamed up to compete to see who could mix the best cocktail. The results were tasty! Event organizer, Gabriella, stated after the event, “Everyone had such an amazing time. Your loft is gorgeous, the class was incredibly fun, and the teachers were incredibly talented and helpful…It truly exceeded expectations!”
